Sam & Johnny’s Marriage, Love Story, and Song

Hey, Marcus and Larry!

Guess since it's been almost two months since my last reply, you both figured I'd forgotten about you!  With apologies, I guess I've been taking in your chapters and doing  my thoughts before replying.

First off, I'm really happy for both of you to see how your love story has unfolded.  I'm also happy to hear how your wives have accepted and even enabled your relationship and even, perhaps, found a relationship of their own together.

Thanks also for having sharing the physical, sexual side of your love for each other without turning it into something pornographic and cheapening your relationship to your followers.

As we've shared before about my tendency towards the emotional and sentimental, I wanted to share with you both what has became Johnny's and my song and a history of how it became our song.  In January, John and I were searching for a wedding venue that wouldn't break our bank.  Actually, he did most of the searching since he'd worked as a chef for Sheraton Hotels in L.A. throughout the '80's and knew what to look for and what to look out for!

After searching for over a month, he found the Ambassador Hotel in Tulsa.  Tulsa is about 45 miles south of Bartlesville, so we scheduled an appointment to speak with the owner / manager of the Chalkboard Restaurant.  The Chalkboard is in the basement of the hotel and independently-owned but handles the setup all the hotel's special events.  Needless to say, we were really excited to find that the per-plate cost of the reception dinner - $38 with a minimum of 25 guests - included 100% of the setup costs for the ceremony and there were NO event fees, room fees, etc.  We toured the various venues at the hotel, chose the lobby for our ceremony and headed home feeling high on love and pretty excited.

During the drive home, we were listening to a Tulsa classic rock station when Bryan Adams' song "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" played.  Almost as soon as the song started, John asked me what I thought of the song and, when I told him I'd always liked it he told me he'd always liked it as well and said I should listen to the lyrics carefully sometime. "Oh, yeah?", I asked.  "Yeah, because that's how I feel about you", was his reply.

Once we got home and settled in, Johnny turned the TV on and asked me to find "our song" and play it.  I found a YouTube video with lyrics and, before I played the video, he calmly, matter-of-factly said "Remember, this is how I feel about you."  Once I'd started the video and began hearing / reading the lyrics word-for-word for probably the first time ever, the "water works" started and, by the end of "our song", I was into full on sobs and tears of happiness.  I got up out of my chair and went to give him a big, tear-filled kiss.  Once again but more emphatically my man said "That's how I feel about you!" as he tapped me on the chest.

For the wedding, we created a Word document of the lyrics and printed it out on some blue-gray parchment style paper to hand out to our guests. I've attached a copy plus some of pictures from our wedding album if you care to give them a once over.

Love to both of you from my Johnny and me!

We have chosen this song for our wedding because of the way it so perfectly conveys the feelings we have for each other

I Do It for You
Bryan Adams

Look into my eyes, you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart, search your soul
And when you find me there, you’ll search no more

Don’t tell me it’s not worth tryin’ for
You can’t tell me it’s not worth dyin’ for
You know it’s true
Everything I do, I do it for you

Look into your heart, you will find
There’s nothin’ there to hide
Take me as I am, take my life
I would give it all, I would sacrifice

Don’t tell me it’s not worth fightin’ for
I can’t help it, there’s nothin’ I want more
You know it’s true
Everything I do, I do it for you

There’s love, like your love
And no other, could give more love
There’s nowhere, unless you’re there
All the time, all the way

Look into your heart, baby

Oh, you can’t tell me it’s not worth tryin’ for
I can’t help it, there’s nothin’ I want more
Yeah, I would fight for you, I’d lie for you
Walk the wire for you, yeah I’d die for you

You know it’s true
Everything I do, oh, I do it for you

Everything I do, darling
And we’ll see it through
Oh we’ll see it through

Look into your heart
You can’t tell me it ain’t worth dying for

I’ll be there
I’ll walk the wire

I’m going all the way, all the way
